> “The Sacred” – Icon Exhibit/Joyce Vidal

From December 1, 2024 through Dec 31, the Millet House hosted the art of Joyce Vidal-Thornburg and Heather Smith-Gearns in an exhibit entitled “The Sacred.” The work of both invites meditation and contemplation, as does that of the supporting artists for “The Sacred”, Sharon Ose, Jacob Bush and Andrea Rogers. Heather’s art, and that of the supporting artists, can now be purchased here: The Sacred: Abstracts/Heather Smith-Gearns and in the Gift Shop. Joyce’s work is not for sale but the full icon exhibit can be viewed below.

“The word icon comes from the Greek EIKONA, meaning “sacred image.” Icons are windows to the divine, pathways of prayer, often painted with a specific intention. Icons are written, not painted; the movement from dark to light and big to small represents the movement of transformation.”
