Under a fiery sky, a mind in turmoil, worried about family, travel, job, money, dying, rent, food, health. Underneath are three figures in masquerade: a wolf in sheep’s clothing; a clown – “a person clowning around and doing things they shouldn’t be doing” – and a person with a long nose who cannot tell the truth. Neshat is an essential worker who rides light rail and bus to work each day. She sees and hears first hand how worried people are.

Will Porter

“My name is Will Porter and I have an ongoing love affair with art.  I was introduced to art at a very young age by my parents.  Both of whom were also artists.  I have taken many art classes throughout my school years and love all styles however fantasy gets a little more attention than the others.

“Although I am currently incarcerated my creative and artistic natures have not been stifled.   The type of mediums I am able to use may be limited but my imagination is not.  My medium of choice is acrylic painting but I also love to draw with pen and ink.

“For the Silver Linings exhibition, I selected Black Rose.  I had completed this piece prior to learning about the exhibition but feel like it was meant to be.  I painted the paper black and then the woman in white paint which actually takes on a silvery hue.  The woman, Rose, is as beautiful as the flower rose, strong like the stem and ready to protect like the thorns.   I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.”
