Artist Vanessa Ortiz

Artist Statement

I have been an Artist professional for six years but I have always been an artist since a young age. I graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor in Drawing. I didn’t pick up painting until I moved closer to the desert. As I feel it’s a vital part of my soul’s inspiration and well-being. My Medium of choice is Alcohol ink because it gives my paintings a life like no other. but I’m trained in all mediums and express myself in other mediums if I’m in the mood. My use of beautiful brighten colors and sharing the emotion or energy in my paintings give me inner peace and joy. It’s a passion that comes from within that keeps me painting everyday.

The paintings above were shown in our 2020 art-while-apart-black-lives-matter show, the first of our online 2020 shows. To view Vanessa’s art in the Main Exhibit “room” for art-while-apart-black-lives-matter: return to main page.

Vanessa also exhibited in our second 2020 virtual show, Silver Linings. The following paintings are from that show.

Silver Lining meant to me that I got to embrace my son and have the opportunity to spend more time with him. I also got to paint more and feel my subject even closer. I try to not focus on the negative and focus more on the positive. I do know that my health did take a turn for the ugly for a while but I push through to see another day and to appreciate the little things and people around me.
